There’s something magical about walking the back streets of Venice, it feels like a maze of unexpected delights never really knowing what you’ll come across around the next bend. My visit to Venice was during Carnival in February, so not only did I have the architectural delights but the stunning theatrical costumes too. It was an experience I’ll never forget. Here I wanted to explore the array of textures, colours and patterns found in a slightly less obvious place. The original mixed media painting was created using a range of ink, watercolour, collage and the addition of handmade felt and stitch.
